Croatia Regulations for 2014

Croatia passed a set of maritime regulations into law on July 25th which outline changes which will take place from January 2014. More than 182 days a year in Spain? - Wealth Tax Revived!

In January 2013 Spain announced an asset tax to apply to anyone tax resident in mainland Spain; ie, anyone spending more than 182 days per tax year (a calendar year) in Spain or within 12nm of the mainland Spain coastline. It is not clear whether the Balearics are included in this definition.

Balearics - Fines for Anchoring in Posidonia Reserves

In 2008 Spain designated a number of  "Posidonia Reserves" (Seagrass reserves), and provided mooring buoys which could be booked ahead so that yachts could still visit. In 2011 several of these reserves did not lay buoys, but instead instructed yachts only to anchor in places free of the grass. For 2012 the buoys were laid. Some boats anchoring in reservations have been fined.

Cyprus marina additions

Cyprus is adding marina capacity, and it is now much easier to find wintering berths. Site member Jeva has also added a "comment" with up to date reports of many ports around the island (comments can only be seen by site members). See Cyprus page for details.

Greece

Major relaxations to Greek boating regulations were made during 2014, and provisions were made to introduce a boating tax. The boating tax has not yet been introduced. New Boating Regulations
