Finding Stuff on the Site Sticky

Rest your cursor on one of the top menu tabs. A list of content columns will appear. Click on a column heading for the general picture, or go straight to the detail link. Or drill down through the right hand menus. Site members have a search box, top right, and can see (and add!) comments to individual pages to keep them up to date.

Balearics - Fines for Anchoring in Posidonia Reserves

In 2008 Spain designated a number of  "Posidonia Reserves" (Seagrass reserves), and provided mooring buoys in those areas so they could still be visited by yachts. Last year several of these reserves did not lay buoys, but instead instructed yachts only to anchor in places free of the grass. The reserves are patrolled to ensure people behave.

This year one skipper unwittingly anchored in a reserve which had no buoys, on grass, and was told he would be fined. Fines for a second offence are large.

Cyprus marina additions

Cyprus is adding marina capacity, and it is now much easier to find wintering berths. Site member Jeva has also added a "comment" with up to date reports of many ports around the island (comments can only be seen by site members). See Cyprus page for details.

Portugal - Asking for VAT proof

Portugal, in certain circumstances, appears to be asking for proof that VAT is paid on EU boats. Details can be seen on our Portugal page . Attached to that page is a most informative comment by ctarmey, who has experienced a "T2L" demand. The comment can only be seen by logged in site members.
